Order name registered February 1987; Badge registered September 2017.
DESCRIPTION:
Originally designed as an award to honor gentles from outside the barony who offered crash space to traveling Illitonites, the Order of the Silver Cushion currently recognizes HOSPITALITY, as demonstrated by citizens of the Barony of Illiton.
Membership in the order is now offered to Illitonites who open their homes for baronial gatherings (including, but not limited to, martial arts practices and tournaments, guild meetings, post-revels, bardic circles and feast preparation.)
It is also offered to baronial members who habitually invite gentles from other SCA groups attending Illiton events to stay in their homes. This honor may be granted only once to each individual.
