The Heraldic Quest To Create New, and Register All existing, Illiton Orders, Awards, and Honors
with the College of Heralds
Beginning in the fall of 2016, during his term as Baron of Illiton, Master John Inchingham (the Fool) began the process of registering all of Barony of Illiton’s existing awards and badges with the College of Heralds, and creating several others to expand awards available to Baronial Members and those who have done martial, A&S, leadership, and service on behalf of Illiton.
This was a 6 year journey, with the last award, The Winged Barbel, having final wording approval received Spring 2022. And the final updated artwork, in both a color awards gallery and line drawings for scribal use, for the website were completed during the Summer 2022 working with Mistress Lorelei Skye, (who also served as Webminister during this time.)
We all thank Master John for all this incredible work and dedication on behalf of Illiton!

BARONIAL HERALDRY
BARONIAL COAT OF ARMS
Name, “Illiton, Shire of,” registered in October of 1979
and updated to “Illiton, Barony of” in February of 1987.
Coat of Arms registered in October of 1982.
Blazon: Azure, on a pale argent a mermaid erect affronty proper, scaled Or, crined vert maintaining in her right hand a trident bendwise sinister and in her left and upraised hand a grey granite tower proper, and in base a laurel wreath vert.
DEVICE OF THE CANTON OF LOCHMORROW
Name, “Lochmorrow, March of,” registered in February of 1984.
Lochmorrow became a canton of the Barony of Illiton in 2009.
