Mistress Alzbeta Michalik Named As Low Sheriff

April 8th, 2017 ~ AS51

We, Maire and John, Baroness and Baron of Illiton, remember that our predecessors, Baroness Alzbeta the Wise and Baron Wilhelm the Landgrabber, established that these lands are to be ruled justly.

The laws of Illiton are tempered by mercy.

Our rules are strict but fair. Our guiding philosophy is “To trust but verify.”

Bearing all this in mind, We think it right and proper to appoint Mistress Alzbeta Michalik LOW SHERIFF OF ILLITON. Her duties shall be two-fold. Firstly, she is to keep a careful eye upon the doings of the High Sheriff and report to us any unusual activities, especially those involving the collection of taxes. Secondly, she is to serve as advocate for those citizens accused by the High Sheriff of wrongdoing, to defend them when tried before Us–so that We may be appraised of all pertinent facts before rendering Our verdict.

Because Our barony is large and Mistress Alzbeta’s legs are short, We shall allow her the use of one pony of her choosing from our stables for as long as she holds this office.

So say We, Maire and John, Baroness and Baron of Illiton, at this celebration of The Rites of Spring, on the eighth day of April, AS LI (51).

John
