DESCRIPTION:
One of four baronial arts and sciences awards, the Tortoise of Illiton recognizes DILIGENCE in practicing the artistic activities and scientific endeavors associated with the Society for Creative Anachronism. The award is given to those who have continued to labor at a chosen task long after the initial enthusiasm for trying something new has evaporated. Recipients are praised for increasing their skills through hard work and dedication, and honored for demonstrating steady progress towards achieving prowess in a particular art or science. This honor may be granted multiple times to the same gentle for different activities.
